{"id":480543,"date":"2025-11-20T18:13:03","date_gmt":"2025-11-20T19:13:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=480543"},"modified":"2025-11-20T22:22:31","modified_gmt":"2025-11-20T22:22:31","slug":"bosnich-why-i-disagree-with-popular-socceroos-opinion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=480543","title":{"rendered":"Bosnich: Why I disagree with popular Socceroos opinion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nine.com.au\/sport\/football\/premier-league\" target=\"\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"Premier League\">Premier League<\/a> is back after a thrilling international break.<\/p>\n<p>It&#x27;s like a good book that we put on the shelf and then open it back up again to start an unpredictable new chapter.<\/p>\n<p>\ufeffThe break is a chance for managers to catch their breath and come up with new ideas but they will also have to take the temperature of their international players.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Football&#x27;s<\/strong><\/em> <a href=\"https:\/\/9.nine.com.au\/vsf4jt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" title=\"\"><em><strong>new home, Stan Sport<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em><strong>, is the only place to watch the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, WSL, European World Cup qualifiers, J.League, NSWL and K League<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"1639578d-22a2-499c-a27f-6339a494edb3\" src=\"https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/1639578d-22a2-499c-a27f-6339a494edb3\" alt=\"Dominik Szoboszlai of Hungary thanks the crowd for cheering.\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Some will be on cloud nine after qualifying for next year&#x27;s World Cup but others \ufeffwill be absolutely devastated.<\/p>\n<p>Take Dominik Szoboszlai, who was distraught after Hungary&#x27;s dramatic loss to Ireland in Dublin. He&#x27;s \ufeffa key player for Liverpool and it&#x27;s not a given that he will be able to just park that disappointment and get back to his best.<\/p>\n<p>What a game that was and Troy Parrott won&#x27;t have to buy a Guinness again after booking Ireland&#x27;s playoff ticket with a hat-trick.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6385179382112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/pickerimage-39.jpg\" alt=\"Pandemonium ignites as Ireland keeps World Cup hopes alive\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cmi2a2ewg000z0hluzaznu4rs\" \/><\/p>\n<p>And a special shoutout to Scotland, too, who went on a rollercoaster ride before qualifying for their \ufefffirst World Cup since 1998. Scott McTominay is a remarkable story.<\/p>\n<p>The midfielder was a good player for Manchester United but he has gone to another stratosphere since joining Napoli last year.<\/p>\n<p>He won Serie A player of the year while leading Napoli to the title and deserves to strut his stuff at the World Cup. If you haven&#x27;t seen his overhead goal yet, do yourself a favour.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6385273623112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/pickerimage-40.jpg\" alt=\"McTominay scores incredible overhead goal\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cmi54rx3i00140hmdu1tr91op\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>ARSENAL vs TOTTENHAM<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The game of the round is the north London derby between Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p>It doesn&#x27;t get much better than that \ufeffand the big question is whether Arsenal can maintain their red-hot form after the break.<\/p>\n<p>They haven&#x27;t lost since September 1 against Liverpool &#8211; a phenomenal run of 12 wins and two draws across all competitions.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>NEW PODCAST! The Gunners can still play nice football but it&#x27;s not the free-flowing, breathtaking style of the past.<\/p>\n<p>Arteta&#x27;s success is built on a rock-solid defence and lethal set-piece, led by the outstanding centre back Gabriel.<\/p>\n<p>But he&#x27;s set for a month on the sidelines after pulling a muscle in his thigh while playing for Brazil. \ufeffThat is a really big blow as Arsenal look to win their first major trophy in five years. Arteta knows he needs to win something this season and there&#x27;s really no excuses.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6383480408112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/pickerimage-41.jpg\" alt=\"Gabriel finds perfect Rice connection\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cmh10ng6y00080hpjyg1q98vz\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Maybe they don&#x27;t have the best starting XI in England but in my eyes they have the best squad of players.<\/p>\n<p>They are winning games \ufeffwithout playing at their very best or hitting the heights that we&#x27;ve become accustomed to in terms of their playing style.<\/p>\n<p>But who cares. They want to win the league, and they&#x27;ll win it any way they can. Do whatever it takes.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6384409177112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/pickerimage-42.jpg\" alt=\"Spurs are &#x27;horrible&#x27; to watch\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cmhgya5z600130hqe9wz5k5x2\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As for Spurs, the knives were out and fans booed them off the park following a dreadful 1-0 loss to Chelsea\ufeff earlier this month.<\/p>\n<p>But they responded well with a \ufeff4-0 win against Copenhagen and a thrilling 2-2 draw with Manchester United.<\/p>\n<p>Their football under Thomas Frank is nowhere near as attra\ufeffctive as it was under Ange Postecoglou and we knew that would be the case.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"be1cea49-6a24-4622-a24a-c01f4dfbff62\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/be1cea49-6a24-4622-a24a-c01f4dfbff62\" alt=\"Thomas Frank of Tottenham Hotspur applauds the fans.\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But if you&#x27;d offered any Spurs fan fifth place after 11 league games, they would have snapped it up.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p>Frank has rebuilt stability at the back and they&#x27;ve got the equal-fourth best defensive record \ufeffin the league.<\/p>\n<p>They&#x27;ve also scored 19 goals &#8211; again, equal-fourth best in the league &#8211; \ufeffso they are a more than decent all-around team.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6384842541112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/spurs_v_man-united_matchweek-11.png\" alt=\"Rapid Recap | MW11: Spurs vs Man Utd\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cmhqqneso000w0hnszu36lf8w\" \/><\/p>\n<p>They just need to get over that Spurs psychological hurdle, which is quite evident at home.<\/p>\n<p>The expectations of the fans is very high and that tends to weigh them down.<\/p>\n<p>They need to find a way to deal with that but they have a strong away record and they&#x27;ll enjoy being underdogs against Arsenal.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6384403330112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/pickerimage-43.jpg\" alt=\"Salah scores 250th Liverpool goal\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cmhgrza5000150hs53fkqqpkq\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>LIVERPOOL vs NOTTINGHAM FOREST\ufeff<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Liverpool have lost any margin for error \ufeffas they resume their stuttering title defence against Nottingham Forest.<\/p>\n<p>The Reds are in eighth place, eight points off the pace set by Arsenal, and they need to be putting away teams like Forest at Anfield.<\/p>\n<p>The last-start 3-0 loss to Man\ufeffchester City was a major blow and it will be fascinating to see who Arne Slot rolls out in his starting XI.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"049e9a04-793d-4fe2-bee9-86e1132fb200\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/049e9a04-793d-4fe2-bee9-86e1132fb200\" alt=\"\" data-width=\"2527\" data-height=\"1813\" \/><\/p>\n<p>There is still plenty of time to claw back ground on Arsenal \ufeffand the other leading lights but they can&#x27;t fall behind by 10 points or more.<\/p>\n<p>Forest beat Liverpool 1-0 last season which will give them genuine belief, as will Sean Dyche&#x27;s first league win with the team against Leeds United.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p>Forest are 19th and firmly in the relegation zone so avoiding the drop is Dyche&#x27;s first priority.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"a0993214-b2e9-4e9a-af59-f39b0a0a7d07\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/a0993214-b2e9-4e9a-af59-f39b0a0a7d07\" alt=\"Sean Dyche of Nottingham Forest reacts on the sideline.\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"683\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But I still think they&#x27;ve got a squad that can also do some damage in the Europa League.\ufeff They take on Malmo next Friday (AEDT) in a rematch from the \ufeff1979 European Cup final.<\/p>\n<p>That will be a very special night at the City Ground.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p>I think they will avoid relegation and Dyche is the right man for that particular job.<\/p>\n<p><img data-video-id=\"6384849568112\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/chelsea_v_wolves_matchweek-11.png\" alt=\"Rapid Recap | MW11: Chelsea vs Wolves\" data-vms-id=\"ref:cmhqy3q7h00140hrpe5o2ewpm\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>WOLVES\ufeff vs CRYSTAL PALACE<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>We have a new manager in the Premier League after Rob Edwards replaced Vitor Pereira at the helm of Wolves.<\/p>\n<p>I feel sorry for \ufeffPereira but he can have no complaints after picking up just two points from 11 games.<\/p>\n<p>It will take a minor miracle for Edwards to keep them in the top flight from here but funnier things have certainly happened in football.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"3cee0096-942c-42ee-9d49-20c0652744f0\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/3cee0096-942c-42ee-9d49-20c0652744f0\" alt=\"Vitor Pereira is held after clashing with supporters after their defeat.\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"725\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Middlesbrough understandably weren&#x27;t over the moon to lose Edwards but the Welshman is a good fit at Wolves.<\/p>\n<p>He played 111 games for the club and has coached their youth teams so he \ufeffknows what they are all about.<\/p>\n<p>It&#x27;s a similar scenario to Dyche at Forest and he might well be the man to reinvigorate them. Crystal Palace is not an easy start.\ufeff<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"7487cad3-cdb0-4064-9b5a-594da685a962\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/7487cad3-cdb0-4064-9b5a-594da685a962\" alt=\"The Socceroos complain about the penalty decision.\" data-width=\"767\" data-height=\"431\" \/><\/p>\n<h3><strong>STAY CALM, SOCCEROOS\ufeff FANS<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>I can understand the disappointment of Socceroos fans after the losses to Venezuela and Colombia.<\/p>\n<p>People say there are no such thing as friendly games but I disagree with that. This is the time for Tony Popovic to experiment with selection and tactics \ufeffand I wouldn&#x27;t be panicking at all.<\/p>\n<p>Colombia are ranked 13th in the world \ufeffand Popa is a winner who will have things up his sleeve for the World Cup. These games will be completely forgotten come June.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"3d105a7b-c761-4df6-aafe-6aa546c4e872\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/11\/3d105a7b-c761-4df6-aafe-6aa546c4e872\" alt=\"Paul Izzo of Australia makes a save.\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"576\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Of course, I kept a close eye on the goalkeepers and Patrick Beach and Paul Izzo got the opportunities \ufeffin the United States.<\/p>\n<p>For me, Maty Ryan is still No.1 and Popa is just looking at his backup options. They were both very good. Paul will be disappointed by Luis Diaz&#x27;s goal and that was a mix-up between him and the defenders.<\/p>\n<p>That can sometimes happen when long balls come over the top and in the end Paul did well because he could have easily brought the player down outside the box, and got sent off.
