Ten years on from becoming the first female jockey to win the Lexus Melbourne Cup<\/a>, Michelle Payne<\/a> has broken down in tears as history repeated itself.<\/p>\n

Star jockey Jamie Melham, riding Half Yours, claimed the 2025 Cup<\/a>, joining Payne in the history books.\ufeff <\/p>\n

The only Australian horse in the race, Melham came through the field, hit the front in the home straight and bound away clearly to claim the historic race.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Payne was ecstatic in the immediate aftermath of the race.<\/p>\n

"I've got tears in my eyes," 2015 winner Michelle Payne said on Nine after the race.<\/p>\n

"She has revolutionised racing and she is so beautiful to watch."<\/p>\n

After having a moment to take it all in, and to pose for a photo with Melham, Payne spoke of her pride.<\/p>\n

"I need to find out where the party is, to be honest," Payne said.<\/p>\n

"Just incredible to witness it first-hand to be honest with you.<\/p>\n

"All of the effort she puts in behind the scenes, I've been able to witness that first-hand in the jockeys room, time and time again the pressure that you deal with.<\/p>\n

"As a young person she had so much pressure being very successful, being the first female jockey to have 100 wins in a season in Melbourne and she really had to cope with a lot.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Just to witness her today take home the Melbourne Cup, it doesn't get any better than that.<\/p>\n

"It's surreal and I hope she can relax and enjoy it all and remember every minute of it and just take it all in."<\/p>\n

Payne won the 2015 Melbourne Cup riding Prince Of Penzance at a starting price of $101.<\/p>\n

Half Yours was no roughie 10 years on, entering as one of the favourites.<\/p>\n

Melham and Half Yours won this year's Caulfield Cup<\/a>, setting up the Cup form, then becoming the first female jockey to ever win the double.\ufeff<\/p>\n
