He has three things going for it – Joseph O'Brien, Mark Zahra and the horse himself. The two things against him are barrier 19 and 59kg, which is a massive ask for a horse to win the Melbourne Cup from that gate at that weight. But if anyone can do it, this could be the horse that will be able to defy the odds. I don't think he will start as favourite because of those issues, but I still expect him to run a mighty race.

2. It is tough for horses to keep coming back to Melbourne Cups and getting better results. His form reads OK but the class of stayer where he has been aren't as good and he's been running on surfaces that are completely different. I take those two points together and I don't think he can win the race and I don't think he can be in that top-five.

19. So often when you see a horse reverse their form as he did, that was sort of his grand final and they fade from there. He's a capable stayer on his day, but I'm just not sure whether he has the capabilities of winning a Melbourne Cup, particularly when he mixes his form as much as he does. If he brings his A-game, he can finish in the top 10 and if he's in the mix at the 400-metre mark, who knows what can happen?

20. I can't question anything of Joseph O'Brien and all these European horses, if he does get to a slow or heavy surface on Tuesday, they are all going to appreciate it and she will be one of them. She has got her challenges out of barrier 20, but the barriers for the lighter-weighted horses aren't as prominent to influence the race as they are for the heavier-weighted horses and for that reason, I give her a genuine chance.

21. It was a more than serviceable run from him in the Caulfield Cup as well and the form from that race is good form. He has turned his form around and has now held that form. The run in the Bart Cummings where he won, people thought that was an aberration from the form he had been showing and then boom, he does that in the Caulfield Cup. The form is really good coming in and the sting out of the ground is not going to hurt and the barrier is good.
