The first T20I between Australia and India<\/a> has been abandoned after rain ruined play at Manuka Oval. \ufeff<\/p>\n

India were \ufeff1-97 after 9.4 overs when the match was officially called off.<\/p>\n

"D\ufeffisappointing for the turnout here, they've been patient … they saw some good batting from India's point of view but the rain hasn't stopped," Ravi Shastri said on Fox Cricket.<\/p>\n

That rain delay was the second of the match\ufeff after an earlier one came following the fifth over with India 1-43.<\/p>\n

The delay forced the match into 18 overs each but ultimately not even that could be reached. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Australia won the toss in Canberra and elected to bowl. The first wicket came in the fourth over when Nathan Ellis had Abhishek Sharma caught at mid-off by Tim David from an expert back-of-the-hand slower ball.<\/p>\n

The next man in was under pressure captain Suryakumar Yadav who only made 72 runs in seven matches of the recent Asia Cup.<\/p>\n

Yadav managed to get off the mark quickly before sending Josh Hazlewood into the stands with a beautiful flick off his pads\ufeff.<\/p>\n

The skipper finished on 39 not out off 24 balls by the final rain delay while Shubman Gill had 37 off 20.<\/p>\n

Opening bowlers Hazlewood (0-24 off three overs) and Xavier Bartlett (0-16 off two) were the most economical for Australia. \ufeff<\/p>\n
