Canterbury Bulldogs<\/a> general manager and Nine's resident league expert Phil Gould<\/a> has tweeted from his hospital bed after news broke he was battling health issues.<\/p>\n

Nine's Danny Weidler first posted the news on social media on \ufeffWednesday night, saying Gould was facing "significant health concerns".<\/p>\n

The 67-year-old gave an update on his situation on Thursday morning.<\/p>\n

"Thank you to all the very kind well-wishers. Greatly appreciated," he said.<\/p>\n

"Everything is OK. My regular blood tests this week showed up something else that needed investigation.<\/p>\n

\"Phil<\/p>\n

"Basically, I came in to change the tyres, and they found a problem with the engine. Go figure. I'm lucky they found it early.<\/p>\n

"The doctors and hospital staff have been simply amazing, but hopefully I'm going home soon.<\/p>\n

"Looking forward to grand final day. Best wishes to all."<\/p>\n

Gould did not feature on Nine's weekly Six Tackles with Gus<\/em><\/a> podcast. Darryl Brohman featured in his place.<\/p>\n

\ufeffHost Mat Thompson revealed on the podcast the health issues have been ongoing for weeks.<\/p>\n

"Now some serious business to start, over the last few weeks my man Gus has had some health issues unfortunately," he said.<\/p>\n

\"Phil<\/p>\n

"And viewers of 100% Footy<\/em> would've seen he was absent from the show on Monday \ufeffand unfortunately he can't be with me this week either.<\/p>\n

"Given it's grand final, is a real shame."<\/p>\n

\ufeffBrohman passed on his well-wishes to Gould, with whom he once shared a house during their playing days in Sydney.<\/p>\n

"I hope Gus is OK. I know he's not 100 per cent by a long way," he said.<\/p>\n
