N\ufeffRLW<\/a> superstar Olivia Kernick<\/a> has relived the "hungover" phone call she received about her Jillaroos snubbing last year and spoken of her appreciation for the support from past players, particularly Willie Mason and Justin Horo.<\/p>\n

Kernick has spoken on various occasions about her disappointment<\/a> when former Jillaroos \ufeffcoach Brad Donald didn't pick her, despite a Dally M-winning year.<\/p>\n

The forward revealed on Wide World of Sports' Marlee & Me<\/em><\/a> podcast that the call came through on her Mad Monday\ufeff when she was on a boat celebrating the season, in which she won a premiership with the Roosters.<\/p>\n

"We were all pretty hungover from the night before," she said.<\/p>\n

\ufeff"… that kind of sucked, ruining the celebration almost. Obviously it was a really shit situation to be in. Trying to celebrate this massive year we've had, the premiership we just won and then being told that you're not in the team really hurt.<\/p>\n

"But being around my teammates, that made me \ufefffeel a lot better, and seeing the care and the girls getting around me, that really made me feel a lot better as opposed to sitting in my room being by myself.<\/p>\n

"A lot of the girls were a bit shocked. It was really nice to be around my best friends and girls \ufeffthat just get it, and get that footy is not all roses and this is real-life stuff in our lives.<\/p>\n

"… it just really hurt. It was definitely a wave of emotions seeing it everywhere and having conversations with different people about what I needed to work on to get back into the team … It was just a hard week all together."<\/p>\n

Kernick went on to say how disappointing it was to miss out on the fun of being in a Jillaroos camp.<\/p>\n

Her non-selection brought shockwaves around the league community, with Horo and Mason two of the strongest advocates for her.<\/p>\n

"Liv Kernick should be the first forward picked in this team. I'm so surprised she didn't make the team," Horo said.<\/p>\n

Mason added: "That's not a good look for the women's game. You've just got to pick your best players… F— your political bullshit off." \ufeff<\/p>\n

Kernick was appreciative of the support. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"\ufeffThe Levels podcast was pretty cool to see. Whenever you see male-dominated spaces talk about our female space is really cool," she said.<\/p>\n

"I feel like Scope and Willie are really good at analysing footy in itself so to see them analyse the women's game, it's really special.<\/p>\n

"Obviously they have such a different audience so to be able to speak up about it with their audience was pretty cool."<\/p>\n

Donald \ufeffresigned as Jillaroos coach in February, ahead of the historic rugby league Test against England in Las Vegas, following a wave of criticism over his Kernick snub.<\/p>\n

Kernick was picked for that match, \ufeffwhich Australia won 90-4.<\/p>\n

She will run out for the Roosters on Sunday against the Broncos in another grand final.\ufeff<\/p>\n
