Ange Postecoglou<\/a> remains winless as Nottingham Forest manager after a Socceroos<\/a> defender knocked the Premier League club out of the EFL Cup in dramatic fashion on Thursday (AEST).<\/p>\n

Cameron Burgess, appointed Swansea City captain after signing from Ipswich Town in the off-season, opened his goalscoring account for the club with a 68th minute header from a corner.<\/p>\n

\ufeffForest still led 2-1 at that point thanks to Igor Jesus' first half brace but Zan Vipotnik scored Swansea's equaliser in the third minute of added time.<\/p>\n

Football's<\/strong><\/em> new home, Stan Sport<\/strong><\/em><\/a>, is the only place to watch the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, FA Cup, WSL, European World Cup qualifiers, J.League, NSWL and K League<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Burgess, the Scotland-born 29-year-old with 18 caps for Australia, then stole the show.<\/p>\n

The ball fell nicely to Burgess after Ethan Galbraith had rattled the post with a long-range rocket, and the skipper connected beautifully with a left-footed volley to score.<\/p>\n

It sparked delirium in the seventh minute of added time.<\/p>\n

Burgess had scored just 13 goals in a 11-year professional career and has never scored for the Socceroos.<\/p>\n

\ufeffPostecoglou's Forest reign started with a 3-0 Premier League loss to Arsenal.<\/p>\n

This was supposed to be an opportunity for Forest to flex their muscle against a Championship club and it was all looking good at 2-0 up at half time.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"There have been some breathtaking moves that would cut most teams apart," James Perch said on the BBC.<\/p>\n

Brazilian \ufeffJesus flashed his trademark 'Kamehameha' Dragon Ball Z<\/em> celebration for the first time as he opened his account as a Forest player.<\/p>\n

"That's a great team goal… Forest have been razor sharp at the top end of the pitch."<\/p>\n

But things fell apart late for Postecoglou in the third round match as Forest bowed out of the knockout competition.<\/p>\n

The Australian was seen remonstrating with referee Robert Madley after the final whistle.<\/p>\n

"You've just got to finish the game off and we had plenty of opportunities to do that," Postecoglou said.<\/p>\n

"I just thought it was a game we really should have killed off long before it got to the stage that it did. I got the sense we were getting a bit comfortable and thought the game would finish off easily.<\/p>\n

"But that's not what happens, particularly in cup football. You've got to know the warning signs. We had to finish them off and we had plenty of opportunities to do that, and a couple of decisions didn't go our way. Players just thought it would naturally finish that way and we've paid a heavy price for that."<\/p>\n

The EFL Cup is not a priority for \ufeffbig clubs but Postecoglou made it clear before kickoff that he would be hunting silverware at every opportunity.<\/p>\n

Forest's next game is against Burnley in the Premier League on Sunday (AEST).\ufeff<\/p>\n

"We need to improve. They had two shots from outside the box in the first half and didn't really test us until right at the end," Postecoglou said.<\/p>\n

"There were a lot of players out there who needed some football, but even within that context we were well in control of that game and should have seen it out. I was just frustrated that we didn't realise the danger that could have developed by not being more clinical and killing off the opponent when we should have."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
