Titans<\/a> CEO Steve Mitchell has admitted \ufeffthere has been faults from the club that's led to Des Hasler's demise<\/a>, with Paul Gallen stating the club is "very lucky" to have landed Josh Hannay.<\/p>\n

The appointment of Hannay makes him the sixth full-time coach of the Titans after the departures of John Cartwright, Neil Henry, Garth Brennan, Justin Holbrook and Hasler.<\/p>\n

Since inception in 2007, the Titans \ufeffare yet to play in a grand final.<\/p>\n

On Nine's 100% Footy, Phil Gould put it to Mitchell whether the club \ufeffunderstands it may not be the coach that's the issue for the Titans.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffAbsolutely it goes beyond the bloke who's trying to steer that group around, arguably that responsibility does fall with the coach but there's parts of that, that are away from there," he said.<\/p>\n

Mitchell then listed the \ufeffresponsibilities that lie with the club which includes the character of the playing group, pathways, admin and the high performance program.<\/p>\n

He then admitted that hasn't been handled well enough. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"To your point, we haven't done a good job \ufeffof that over the last decade and we've had a series of coaches run through," he said.<\/p>\n

"We need to look squarely and very pragmatically around that and say what else do we need around Josh to make sure he's a success and he can bring what he's brought in other systems to life here."<\/p>\n

The Titans boss\ufeff, who has been CEO since 2018, then listed the increasing population on the Gold Coast and the amount of clubs targeting the market in the area for player recruitment.<\/p>\n

"We've got no excuses to not putting a winning, successful program on the paddock," he said.<\/p>\n

\ufeffCronulla Sharks legend Paul Gallen described the Titans coaching role as "the biggest job in the NRL" and said Hannay is ready to take it on.<\/p>\n

"I look at players that go to that Titans team, \ufeffthey're there for opportunity or they get paid overs to go there," he said.<\/p>\n

"I don't see a lot of players there for the right reasons and I think it's a hell of a job. I think Josh Hannay's probably the next cab off the rank \ufeffregardless and probably could have got a job anywhere so if I'm the Gold Coast Titans I'm feeling very, very lucky he's there. I hope he does a fantastic job, he's a terrific guy but I think it's a really, really big job."<\/p>\n

Phil Gould added Hannay will have to be "strong" with his attitude considering the high turnover.<\/p>\n

"When he walks into the foyer of that club there's no trophies in the cupboard, there's headstones from a lot of dead coaches that have been at the place, that's what he's walking into," he said.<\/p>\n
