The driver that replaced Australian Jack Doohan<\/a> at Alpine has reportedly been given the remainder of the season to salvage his F1<\/a> career.<\/p>\n

Franco Colapinto has failed to secure a single point since he replaced the Aussie at Alpine earlier this year.<\/p>\n

His place in the top tier came under question once more when he collided with barriers at the Hungaroring during Pirelli tyre testing this week.<\/p>\n

An Alpine spokesperson confirmed that Colapinto was assessed by on-site medics and was uninjured, despite losing control of the car at turn 11.<\/p>\n

Pirelli's Mario Isola confirmed the incident was not tyre related.<\/p>\n

"These have been two useful days for making progress with the development of our compounds for next season, given that we are now entering the home straight," he said.<\/p>\n

"The Hungaroring is a demanding track due to its many slow curves and the amount of energy that goes into the tyres on a lap that is rather short.<\/p>\n

"This makes it a challenging place to test tyres, in particular for the compounds that will be central to the 2026 range \u2013 which will go from C1 to C6 like this year.<\/p>\n

"We have collected a lot of data, although it was a pity that we lost some of our potential mileage today when Colapinto went off the track, even though this was not in any way linked to the tyres."<\/p>\n

Colapinto\ufeff has only managed to finish above 15th in a Grand Prix twice, finishing 13th in Monaco and Canada.<\/p>\n

An Alpine spokesperson confirmed that Colapinto was assessed by on-site medics and was uninjured.<\/p>\n

Planet F1 reports Alpine will give Colapinto until the end of the season to prove himself.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Doohan is keen for another opportunity to prove himself, while Alpine also have Paul Aron waiting in the wings for his first chance to compete in F1.<\/p>\n
