G\ufeffWS<\/a> captain Toby Greene<\/a> could be set to face fresh scrutiny from the AFL<\/a>'s match review committee after vision emerged of the firebrand skipper kicking Sydney<\/a>'s Dane Rampe in the groin.<\/p>\n

Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> showed footage on Monday night of Greene\ufeff kicking his heel back and collecting Rampe in the groin ahead of the opening bounce of last Friday night's Sydney derby, which GWS won by 44 points<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Giants superstar is already set to miss his side's next game<\/a> having \ufeffstruck Isaac Heeney in the head with a forearm during the first quarter.<\/p>\n

Greene dropped to his knees and plunged his left forearm into the head of his business partner, who had been tackled to ground by two other GWS players.<\/p>\n

Consequently, Greene will not face the Western Bulldogs at \ufeffMarvel Stadium on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Whether he's also sanctioned for his kick to Rampe's groin remains to be seen, but Essendon legend Matthew Lloyd thinks the AFL will review it.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"I feel like the AFL will look at this," Lloyd said on Footy Classified<\/em>.<\/p>\n

"I'm not sure what they do after the event, if this is the first time they've heard about or known about the vision.<\/p>\n

"But the groin region and an intentional kick going to that area\ufeff I think certainly must be looked at by the AFL.<\/p>\n

"I'd expect a statement from them, you'd think, in the next 24 hours."<\/p>\n

Senior AFL journalist\ufeff Damien Barrett said on the show that the Swans had no issue with the incident involving Greene and Rampe, nor had the club brought it to the attention of Footy Classified<\/em> or the AFL.<\/p>\n

"It's still pretty average, though,"\ufeff replied Geelong great Jimmy Bartel, a former GWS board member.<\/p>\n

"Kicking is a no-go, and then kicking to the groin region\ufeff, throwing your legs back like that…<\/p>\n

"\ufeffAnd this is the issue with Toby Greene, especially in big games. He sees the red mist even worse than most gentlemen, and it's the problem.<\/p>\n

"We will always hear from coaches\ufeff about players like Toby [who say], 'Ah, they play on the edge, they play on the edge'.<\/p>\n

"But I can imagine when you look at the rap sheet … Yes, they're all in big games, but they actually then hurt the Giants when they're leading into bigger games on top of that. And they need their captain."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
