The NBA community is rallying behind former star centre Shawn Bradley, who has been left paralysed after he suffered a traumatic spinal cord injury, according to a statement released on his behalf by the Dallas Mavericks.<\/p>\n
In January this year the former big man was hit by a car from behind while riding his bicycle not far from his home in Utah.<\/p>\n
He underwent neck fusion surgery and has spent the past eight weeks in hospital and is undergoing rehabilitation.<\/p>\n

"With his wife Carrie at his side around the clock, and supported by an amazing team of rehabilitation specialists and family, Bradley is in good spirits," the statement read. <\/p>\n
"He plans to use his accident as a platform to bring greater public awareness to the importance of bicycle safety."<\/p>\n
