Serena Williams cried after missing her daughter take her first steps. <\/p>\n
The tennis champion revealed on Twitter that while she was training for Wimbledon on Saturday, 10-month-old daughter Alexis Olympia achieved her first milestone. <\/p>\n
\u201cShe took her first steps\u2026 I was training and missed it. I cried,\u201d the seven-time Wimbledon champion shared. The 36-year-old and husband Alexis Ohanian welcomed their daughter in September. <\/p>\n
The new mother is still in the running to score her eighth title at the annual tournament, having won her third-round match on Friday, defeating Kristina Mladenovic of France. Williams is scheduled to face Evgeniya Rodina on Monday. <\/p>\n
During a news conference earlier this month, Williams opened up about her decision to stop breastfeeding her daughter after six months, sharing that her original goal was to stop nursing in January. <\/p>\n
\u201cThen January became March. March became April, and I was still breastfeeding. And for me, it was really important to make it to three months, and then it was important to make it to four months. And then I was like, \u2018OK, I can do six months\u2019,\u201d she explained. <\/p>\n
\u201cI literally sat Olympia in my arms and I talked to her and we prayed about it,\u201d Williams continued. \u201cAnd I told her, \u2018Look, I\u2019m gonna stop.
