Bryan Braman, a key special teams player for the Philadelphia Eagles\u2019<\/a> first Super Bowl championship team, has died from a rare and aggressive form of cancer. He was 38.<\/p>\n

Braman was diagnosed earlier this year and had multiple surgeries in recent months in an attempt to treat the illness. He died Thursday, according to a statement issued by the team.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Bryan Braman,\u201d the team said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuring his four seasons in Philadelphia, Bryan was a loyal teammate, a supporter of the community, and a valuable member of our Super Bowl LII-winning team.<\/p>\n

"More importantly, he was a devoted father who passionately loved his family and everyone around him. We extend our deepest condolences to Bryan\u2019s family and all who are grieving his loss during this difficult time.\u201d<\/p>\n

His agent Sean Stellato told NBC: "It's hard. I feel like I lost my firstborn. This kid, he gave me his bed every time I came to Philadelphia.<\/p>\n

"He would threaten me if I didn't stay with him. That's how unselfish he was and how generous he was. That's something I'll always cherish. My heart hurts today."<\/p>\n

The Texans also posted a tribute to Braman, writing on X: "We are deeply saddened to hear about the passing of Bryan Braman. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the Braman family during this difficult time."<\/p>\n

Signed as an undrafted free agent by the Texans in 2011, Braman played seven seasons in the NFL.<\/p>\n

He spent his first three in Houston and last four in Philadelphia. The Eagles beat the Patriots 41-33 to win the franchise\u2019s first Super Bowl in Braman\u2019s final game on February 4, 2018. He gave a fiery speech in the locker room before that game.<\/p>\n
