U.S. soccer star Hope Solo is lucky to be alive after suffering a miscarriage which almost cost her her life last year. <\/p>\n

The World Cup-winning goalkeeper opened up about the tragedy in a candid interview with Elle magazine, revealing she had been trying to conceive with her husband, Jerramy Stevens, for some time before discovering she was pregnant and then losing their baby in February 2018. <\/p>\n

She was still in excruciating pain a week after the tragedy, and her doctor subsequently discovered she had been carrying twins, although one egg had become stuck in her fallopian tube \u2013 resulting in an ectopic pregnancy. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe doctor said I was hours from dying,\u201d she recalled to the publication. \u201cThey ended up having to remove my fallopian tube.\u201d <\/p>\n
