Basketball great Shaquille O\u2019Neal has lost his sister to cancer. <\/p>\n

The Los Angeles Lakers legend was notably absent from the set of U.S. show Inside the NBA, on which he is a panellist, on Thursday, as it was revealed his sister, Ayesha Harrison-Jex, had passed away. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe have to tell you why you\u2019re not seeing Shaquille O\u2019Neal here on the set tonight,\u201d co-host Ernie Johnson told viewers. <\/p>\n

\u201cBasically the \u2018Big Fella,\u2019 who I\u2019ve described as \u2018the biggest kid in the world,\u2019 his heart is breaking tonight. He said his world revolves around his brother and two sisters. And he lost one of his sisters this morning.\u201d <\/p>\n

Harrison-Jex had been diagnosed with cancer three years ago. She was 40. <\/p>\n
