Junior world No.1 Emerson Jones is flying high, advancing to the quarter-finals of the girls' singles tournament at Wimbledon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Just two days after celebrating her 17th birthday, Jones advanced to the final eight at the All England Club after clinching a 6-4, 6-4 win over Spanish teen Eugenia Zozaya Menendez on Wednesday (AEST).<\/p>\n

Jones was tested in moments during both sets but showed her class, striking 36 winners to progress.<\/p>\n

Jones is yet to drop a set in her opening three matches at SW19.<\/p>\n

The \ufeffGold Coast product is zoning in on a third consecutive semi-final appearance at the junior grand slam level this year, as she pursues a maiden major title.<\/p>\n

Jones previously finished \ufeffrunner-up at the Australian Open and Wimbledon last year.<\/p>\n

She will next face rising Slovak Mia Pohankova, who was also a semi-finalist at Melbourne Park earlier this year. The match is scheduled for 9:10pm on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Jones \ufeffis the last remaining Australian player, also advancing to the quarter-finals in the girls' doubles draw alongside Belgian partner Jeline Vandromme.<\/p>\n

With limited \ufefftime to rest and recover after playing two full matches in the day, Jones is also the only player still competing in both singles and doubles.<\/p>\n

Jones and \ufeffVandromme came back from the brink early Thursday morning against the British duo of Hollie Smart and Mia Wainwright.<\/p>\n

After dropping the first set and facing match point in the second, the girls rallied to break serve and equalise before prevailing in the deciding super tiebreak, 5-7, 7-5, 10-7.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Jones' doubles quarter-final is set for some three and a half hours later after her singles match. \ufeff<\/p>\n

Victory would see Jones equal her best result at Wimbledon in the doubles after she reached the semi-finals last year alongside Italian Vittoria Paganetti.<\/p>\n

Jones made her main draw debut at the Australian Open this year<\/a> but was sent packing by No.6 seed Elena Rybakina in straight sets.<\/p>\n
