{"id":45453,"date":"2021-03-16T09:27:23","date_gmt":"2021-03-16T10:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=45453"},"modified":"2021-03-16T11:09:54","modified_gmt":"2021-03-16T11:09:54","slug":"two-uae-players-banned-from-all-forms-of-cricket-for-eight-years","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=45453","title":{"rendered":"Two UAE players banned from all forms of cricket for eight years"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin: 5px 5% 10px 5%\"><img loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/arysports.tv\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/03\/Mohammad-Naveed-and-Shaiman-Anwar-Butt.jpg\" width=\"742\" height=\"486\" title=\"\" alt=\"\" \/><\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Karachi:\u00a0United Arab Emirates (UAE) players Mohammad Naveed and Shaiman Anwar Butt have been banned from all forms of cricket for eight years.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Both were found\u00a0guilty of breaching the ICC Anti-Corruption Code by\u00a0ICC Anti-Corruption Tribunal.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article__content\">\n<p>&#8220;The bans are backdated to 16 October 2019, when they were provisionally suspended for attempting to corrupt matches of the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019 in the UAE,&#8221; ICC said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>The tribunal after a\u00a0full hearing and presentation of written and oral argument found\u00a0both Naveed and Shaiman guilty of:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article 2.1.1<\/strong> \u2013 for being party to an agreement or effort to fix or contrive or otherwise influence improperly the result, progress, conduct or other aspect(s) of a match or matches at the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Article 2.4.4<\/strong> &#8211; Failing to disclose to the ACU full details of any approaches or invitations received to engage in corrupt conduct under the Code at the ICC Men\u2019s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2019.<\/p>\n<p>Naveed was also found guilty of breaching the following two counts of the Emirates Cricket Board Anti-Corruption Code for Participants of a cricket league in Dubai.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alex Marshall, ICC General Manager \u2013 Integrity Unit, said:<\/strong> \u201cMohammad Naveed and Shaiman Anwar represented their adopted country, the UAE at the highest level in cricket.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNaveed was the captain and leading wicket-taker. Anwar was the opening bat. Both had long international careers and were well versed in the threat from match-fixers.
