Former player Warwick Capper has been banned from AFL venues for five years over allegations of innapropriate behaviour at last year's grand final.<\/p>\n

The animated ex-Sydney Swans and Brisbane Lions star, who was well known for creating headlines off the field during his 124-game career, attended the AFL decider at the MCG between his two former clubs.<\/p>\n

It's understood the 62-year-old\ufeff was heavily intoxicated and used offensive language towards MCG staff.<\/p>\n

Catering reportedly made complaints about Capper amid claims he intimidated a female staff member.<\/p>\n

According to Nine's Tom Morris, he said to a caterer: "You're a nice looking girl. You'd get a job in my brothel."<\/p>\n

The AFL confirmed Capper had been hit with a "banning notice", which means Capper cannot attend any AFL games or MCG events including cricket matches and concerts.<\/p>\n

Capper told 9News he was at North Melbourne's game against Sydney at Marvel Stadium on April 5.<\/p>\n

It's understood Capper was due to meet the AFL next week over concussions he had suffered during his career and how he's dealing with the fallout now.<\/p>\n

Capper's manager Tony Marks told News Corp: "He did make a light-hearted joke to somebody in the room.<\/p>\n

"But not with any ill will. He definitely didn't walk up and say it directly to her.<\/p>\n

"There's a generation of people who didn't grow up with Warwick but for 95 per cent of people in that room he was being the joking Warwick Capper, an entertainer.<\/p>\n

"He knows he needs to pull his socks up with some of his jokes, but under no circumstances would he want anyone to be offended. He was making a joke and it was overheard and offence was taken."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
