British tennis<\/a> player Fran Jones had to be carried off court in a wheelchair after collapsing during her match in the Colsanitas Cup in Colombia.<\/p>\n

The world No.129 \ufeffwas facing Argentina's Julia Riera in the first round when she went to serve at 5-3 down in the third set.<\/p>\n

But she failed to\ufeff complete her service motion and collapsed, clutching her head on the ground.<\/p>\n

Medical assistance rushed to the court and Jones was taken from the court on a wheelchair, retiring from her match.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Due to a physical issue, Francesca Jones has withdrawn from her match against Julia Riera at 6-2, 5-7, 5-3 in favour of the Argentinian," a statement from tournament organisers said.<\/p>\n

'We wish the British tennis player a speedy recovery."<\/p>\n

Jones has spoken of her motivation to prove others wrong in her journey as a tennis professional.<\/p>\n

She was born with the rare medical condition Ectrodactyly Ectodermal Dysplasia Syndrome, and plays without two fingers and three toes.<\/p>\n

She was told by doctors that playing professionally was not realistic\ufeff when she was a child and insisted it had only made her mentally stronger.<\/p>\n

"I've had experiences that many haven't at my age, and I think that's moulded me into the person I am today," she said in 2021.<\/p>\n

"It will have had an impact on my mental strength and my mentality and mindset as a whole, but I am sure everyone goes through hardship and deals with adversity in their own way. Everyone's story makes a person who they are."<\/p>\n

In explaining \ufeffher motivation, Jones said she made it her mission to prove her doctor wrong.<\/p>\n

"His comments played a massive part in my life decisions and career commitments to date.<\/p>\n

"I've always wanted to make my parents proud more than anything."<\/p>\n
