Manly's desperate plight has been shown by the Sea Eagles signing Warriors hooker Karl Lawton immediately – despite the fact he is set to miss the majority of the season with an achilles injury.<\/p>\n
The Warriors have given Lawton an immediate release and he has signed a two-year deal with Manly – but won't make his debut until he is over the injury which will be mid-season at best.<\/p>\n
The Sea Eagles were thumped by the Roosters in their opening game of the season last night and used a makeshift hooker in Lachlan Croker.<\/p>\n
The club has a top-class hooker on its books in youngster Manase Fainu but he has been stood down indefinitely by the NRL over an off-field incident.<\/p>\n

Lawton, aged 25, hails from the Gold Coast area and played for the Titans in 2016-17.<\/p>\n
He shifted to the Warriors in 2018 but injuries have restricted him to just 33 games over the past three seasons.<\/p>\n
He suffered the achilles injury just before Christmas last year, meaning he will miss much of the coming season.<\/p>\n
