Dylan Brown<\/a> admits the switch to halfback will be a foreign situation for him after the Knights' 10-year $14 million deal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Michael Chammas on Nine's 100% Footy<\/em>, the departing Eel\ufeff was candid when asked if he's a halfback, despite the Knights reportedly signing him to play that position<\/a>.<\/p>\n

"Right now, no I'm not a seven, \ufeffI'm a six," he said.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffI've always played six up until now. I'm my own player and they (the Knights) spoke to me about that. They're willing to take me for what I am now."<\/p>\n

Brown's deal with the Knights came after several player options were included in his Eels contract.<\/p>\n

Parramatta powerbrokers came under scrutiny for allowing the get-out clauses. However, Brown revealed that won't be the case with the Knights.<\/p>\n

"I'm sure Newcastle have seen the dramas it put me in with Parra so no, I'm locked in for 10 years," he said.<\/p>\n

While Brown \ufeffprepares for life in Newcastle next season, the half has admitted since signing the contract that he always wanted to stay with the Eels.<\/p>\n

In his interview, Brown said he "thought nothing was going to come up" but encouraged his agent to assess what options were out there.<\/p>\n

\ufeffAfter signing the deal with Newcastle, the 24-year-old told reporters in his press conference that the decision wasn't around money, more about the 10-year factor.<\/p>\n

Many ridiculed those comments \ufeffwith Brown moving to clarify what he meant.<\/p>\n

"I was very open and transparent with Parramatta as to what \ufeffI was facing, what Newcastle were offering me," he explained.<\/p>\n

"I wanted to stay at Parra for longer, \ufeffthey couldn't do that, they couldn't match it, even though they tried. They just couldn't, their vision was different to the Newcastle Knights and the vision of the Newcastle Knights is obviously what entertained me more.<\/p>\n
