Tiger Woods<\/a> has announced he had surgery for a ruptured Achilles tendon this week.<\/p>\n

It is yet another injury that would seem almost certain to keep him out of the Masters and perhaps other major championships this year.<\/p>\n

Woods posted the development on his social media accounts without detailing how long he expected to be out.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs I began to ramp up my own training and practice at home, I felt a sharp pain in my left Achilles, which was deemed to be ruptured,\u201d Woods said.<\/p>\n

"This morning, Dr. Charlton Stucken of Hospital for Special Surgery in West Palm Beach, Florida performed a minimally-invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon.<\/p>\n

"The surgery went smoothly, and we expect a full recovery.<\/p>\n

"I am back home now and plan to focus on my recovery and rehab, thank you for all the support."<\/p>\n

He said he had minimally invasive Achilles tendon repair for a ruptured tendon that the doctor said went smoothly.<\/p>\n

Ruptured Achilles in sports such as rugby league often keep players sidelined for more than six months.\ufeff<\/p>\n

Such surgeries involve smaller incisions, and the recovery time is quicker.<\/p>\n

But most recoveries take a month before someone can even put weight on their foot.<\/p>\n

Woods said he would focus on rehab and recovery.<\/p>\n

The Masters is April 10-14.<\/p>\n

Woods set the Masters record last year by making the cut for the 24th time in a row.<\/p>\n

But he has not competed outside of his indoor league \u2014 except for 18 holes of the Seminole Pro-Member last week \u2014 since missing the cut in the British Open last year.<\/p>\n
