Trent Barrett<\/a> says he will approach the NRL after his Bulldogs were handed a number of penalties and six-again calls in their season-opening loss to Newcastle. <\/p>\n

Barrett's men were dispatched 32-16 at McDonald Jones Stadium<\/a> on Friday night, with the Knights also overwhelming victors in the penalty count (5-0) and the six-again count (5-3).<\/p>\n

While admitting his side was well-beaten on the night, Barrett pointed to a late incident involving an attempted try from Sione Katoa as a prime example of his argument.<\/p>\n

"I think we had 13 penalties and six-to-goes against, to three six-to-goes that we got in the last 10 minutes," Barrett said after the game.<\/p>\n

"If you're getting that sheer weight of possession, plus we're not defending them, you get scorelines like that. If you save two of those tries then you're there in the 80th minute to win it.<\/p>\n

"I need to get a bit of clarity on the six-to-goes because we got pumped. I'll find out about that and the penalties… I've got to be careful there (speaking about it) but I've got to ask the question because it put us under enormous pressure.<\/p>\n

"Even the last one there when Sione (Katoa) got the ball punched out of his hand, is that a loose carry every time? I don't know.<\/p>\n

"There was a few. But that's not an excuse because the ref didn't drop the ball 10 times coming off his own end."<\/p>\n
