Karachi:\u00a0Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan recalled how then national team’s head coach Inzamam-ul-Haq picked him to play based on only one ball he bowled to him at the nets.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The 22-year-old Rashid made his debut in 2015 on the tour of Zimbabwe. He was picked for the T20I series only, however, three balls to Inzamam before the second ODI, changed Inzamam’s perception regarding him.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the practice session (before the 2nd ODI), Inzamam himself padded up and said he wanted to face me himself. Rashid said in a video released by the ESPNCricinfo.<\/p>\n

“You know how strong he is with the cut shot. The first two balls I bowled, he cut. So I thought I will bowl a wrong \u2018un from the same spot, let\u2019s see what happens. He didn\u2019t get out but the ball beat him,\u201d Rashid added.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt that point itself he came outside the net and told me, \u2018Be ready for the match tomorrow, you will be part of the team\u2019,\u201d he maintained.<\/p>\n

Note, Rashid has played four Tests, 74 ODIs and 48 T20Is for Afghanistan. He has over 250+ wickets in international cricket. He was awarded ICC T20I player of the decade too recently.<\/p>\n
