Karachi: Former Aussie batsman Darren Lehmann is hopeful that the five-time World Champions Australia would soon tour Pakistan.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ex-head coach of Australia recalled his playing days when he toured Pakistan in 1988 and stated that he doesn’t see any reason now why Australia won’t tour the country after 24 years.<\/p>\n

“With all the safety that\u2019s going on behind the scenes … you would think that we\u2019d be very close to going back,” Lehmann told\u00a0The Sydney Morning Herald.<\/p>\n

“It\u2019s a beautiful place to go. I really enjoyed my tour there. Their passion for the game is second to none. I can\u2019t see why we wouldn\u2019t go back if everything is safe, for the good of the game in their country,” he added.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) CEO Wasim Khan also expects Australia to visit Pakistan for their FTP commitment in the 2021-22 season after England confirmed their tour in October 2021.<\/p>\n

As per Wasim,\u00a0there had been no agreement yet for an Australian return to Pakistan but reported talks with Cricket Australia had been positive.<\/p>\n

“Our international cricket departments are working together on the schedule for February and March 2022,” he said.<\/p>\n

“There\u2019s been no formal announcement at the moment because there is still a lot of cricket to be played. But all things going well, we\u2019re looking forward to welcoming them in 2022,” Wasim added.<\/p>\n

Note, Australia\u00a0are scheduled to play two Tests, three ODIs and three T20Is in Pakistan in February\/March 2022.<\/p>\n

Last year, former CA Cheif Executive\u00a0Kevin Roberts visited Pakistan in September 2019 for viewing measures as part of Australia’s next potential tour.<\/p>\n
