South Sydney coach Wayne Bennett has urged club officials to make halfback Adam Reynolds<\/a> a Rabbitoh for life.<\/p>\n

Reynolds is said to be frustrated by the club's stance on his future<\/a>, with the star seeking a two-year extension, despite Souths offering him 12 months.<\/p>\n

Reynolds' injury history has some at Redfern concerned, with the play-caller approaching his 31st birthday in July. Souths were hit financially from the medical retirements of Greg Inglis and Sam Burgess and want to avoid tying up a player who has endured injury problems to a long term deal.<\/p>\n

Reynolds was a vital part of the club's 43-year premiership drought in 2014 and Bennett believes the Bunnies shouldn't hesitate in locking up the halfback long-term.<\/p>\n

The Master coach clapped back at critics who claim injuries have spooked the club, pointing to the star's reliability on the field.<\/p>\n

"The talk about Adam's injuries doesn't make sense," Bennett told News Corp.<\/p>\n

"He has averaged more than 20 games per season, so he's out there more than he's not.<\/p>\n

"Adam is getting to that older category and Souths are worried about what has happened in the past with guys like 'GI' and Sam who had to retire with injury and we lost a fair bit of money because they were on long-term contracts."<\/p>\n

Entering his 10th year at Souths, Reynolds has never played fewer than 16 games in a single season and has has amassed 206 NRL games in total. Across his career he has averaged 22 games a season.<\/p>\n

Reynolds could attract in excess of $700,000 a season on the open market, but Bennett is confident the club and the goal-kicking half will sort out their differences.<\/p>\n

"The issue is the terms and length of the deal," Bennett said. "Adam has been a wonderful player for the club and I still believe his best years are ahead of him. I think it will be sorted out."<\/p>\n
