Kane Cornes<\/a> is concerned that there is some "arrogance" seeping into the GWS Giants<\/a>, following their shock five-point semi-final loss to Brisbane<\/a> on Saturday night.\ufeff<\/p>\n

The Giants, who went out of the 2024 finals series in straight sets, coughed up a 44-point lead against the Lions, and lost a chance to face Geelong in an MCG preliminary final on Saturday evening.<\/p>\n

It has left Cornes questioning whether the Giants hold the correct formula to go all the way, considering they have come so close so many times, including a preliminary final loss to Collingwood by a point in 2023.<\/p>\n

And while Cornes doesn't believe it stems from coach Adam Kingsley he believes a cultural shift may need to happen for the Giants, who are yet to win a premiership since their inception into the AFL in 2012.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"On field, off field, you look at everything. I think there has been a little bit of arrogance seeping into the footy club, which is strange, because Adam Kingsley is the furthest thing from arrogant," Cornes said on Nine's Footy Classified<\/em> on Monday night.<\/p>\n

\"Brent<\/p>\n

"They've pushed the boundaries.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"Off field for the Giants, I'd just be turning down that level of arrogance\ufeff they've certainly had this year."<\/p>\n

So where exactly does Cornes believe that arrogance has come from\ufeff?<\/p>\n

One midfielder in particular.\ufeff<\/p>\n

\"Tom<\/p>\n

"Tom Green. He needs to be the (Marcus) Bontempelli, the (Patrick) Cripps. He is the next captain of this footy club. He is the big midfielder inside," he said.<\/p>\n

"He has said he wants to be the best, or he believes he's the best midfielder in the comp.<\/p>\n

"Well, you're not.\ufeff And don't go saying those things, until you genuinely are (the best). And even if you are, there's no way you're running around telling everyone you're the best player in the competition.<\/p>\n

\"Adam<\/p>\n

"His last quarters against Sydney and … against Brisbane. He went missing. Maybe it's a fitness thing for him. He needs to start carrying himself as an influential figure."<\/p>\n

Cornes' comments follow Giants coach Kingsley admitting his side doesn't have all the elements to win a premiership<\/a>, as he urged his young forward line to learn to support\ufeff Coleman Medal winner Jesse Hogan.<\/p>\n
