Racing NSW boss Peter V'landys<\/a> has given the biggest indication yet that King Charles III\ufeff could attend The Everest this weekend.<\/p>\n

The British royal arrives in Sydney on Friday with Queen Camilla by his side.<\/p>\n

Reports have suggested the couple could be at Royal Randwick on Saturday \ufeffwith one of the races named in the King's honour.<\/p>\n

King Charles is currently undergoing cancer treatment but has put that on hold for his Australian tour.<\/p>\n

Speaking at The Everest barrier draw<\/a>, V'landys said the King is "very keen" to attend. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"I\ufefft all depends on the day how he feels," he told Sky Thoroughbred Central.<\/p>\n

"He has had an illness, as we all know, it's a long trip from where he's coming but I know he's very keen.<\/p>\n

"I spoke to him about his race and coming to Australia and he spoke about this trip.<\/p>\n

"He actually spoke about going to open parliament and if he could make The Everest he would.<\/p>\n

"I hope he's true to his word but I understand if he isn't up to it and doesn't make it, but I'm sure he's going to give it his best though."<\/p>\n

Asked if the correct security measures can be put in place, V'landys confirmed those procedures were already planned. \ufeff<\/p>\n

"All those things are done beforehand," he said.<\/p>\n
