Tottenham Hotspur<\/a> are working with police to identify individuals who participated in homophobic chants during the club's dominant victory at Old Trafford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The club vowed to take "the strongest possible action" over the homophobic chants heard from sections of the away support.<\/p>\n

Reports suggest the chants allegedly took\ufeff aim at midfielder Mason Mount and Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.<\/p>\n

"The club is aware of abhorrent homophobic chanting from sections of our away support at Old Trafford," Spurs said in a statement.<\/p>\n

"This is simply unacceptable, hugely offensive and no way to show support for the team.<\/p>\n

"The club will be working closely with the police and stewards to identify anyone instigating or joining in with the chanting – we shall take the strongest possible action in accordance with our sanctions and banning policy."<\/p>\n

Spurs have called for fans in attendance at the match to provide any further information on the matter.<\/p>\n

"We shall be continuing our work with our LGBTQ+ supporters' association, Proud Lilywhites, to ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment for all fans on matchdays," the statement continued.<\/p>\n
