With Sam Walker<\/a> looking more and more likely to re-sign with the Roosters, the Broncos<\/a> are set to move their sights to a different playmaker – Sharks' man of the moment Braydon Trindall.<\/p>\n

Trindall, who produced the game of his life in last weekend's defeat of the Cowboys, comes off contract at the end of 2025 – the same time Broncos general Adam Reynolds is set to retire.<\/p>\n

The Broncos' number one target has been local boy Walker, but they know the Roosters lose very few players they want to keep and the promising halfback has been made a priority to stay at Bondi Junction.<\/p>\n

Trindall has a connection with the Broncos – he became best mates with Brisbane centre Kotoni Staggs during the Indigenous All Stars game at the start of the year.<\/p>\n

That game, co-incidentally, propelled the 25-year-old Trindall to his breakout season – he set up two tries and led the Indigenous side to a win over the Maoris.<\/p>\n

The Sharks will push hard to keep the in-form playmaker – who has stated he is likely to go to the open market on November 1 – in a worrying sign for the club.<\/p>\n

FLANNO FURIOUS AT BOSS' AXING\ufeff<\/strong><\/p>\n

Times are a bit testy at the Dragons, with coach Shane Flanagan far from happy with the club's decision to part ways with chief executive Ryan Webb<\/a> last week.<\/p>\n

Webb was a big supporter of Flanagan and helped him get the head coach job this year in the face of opposition from some board members due to Flanagan's history at the Sharks.<\/p>\n

The coach was keen to repay that loyalty and has told anyone who wants to listen that he is fuming with the Dragons' move to cut ties with Webb.<\/p>\n

TIGERS BOARD EMBARRASSED OVER LEGEND'S COMMENTS\ufeff<\/strong><\/p>\n

There were some red faces at a Tigers lunch last week when the microphone was handed to club legend Chris Lawrence to talk about his career.<\/p>\n

Lawrence spent much of his time lavishing praise on Tim Sheens, the man who handed him his debut while still a schoolboy just days before a famous win over the Broncos in Brisbane in which the teenager scored a try.<\/p>\n

The former Test centre couldn't speak highly enough of Sheens, who won the Tigers the unwinnable premiership in 2005.<\/p>\n

Sitting in the crowd, not knowing which way to look, were several red-faced board members – the men who sacked Sheens and blamed him for the debacle the club has become.<\/p>\n

FAMILY AFFAIR AT THE KNIGHTS\ufeff<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Knights have a wonderful young family coming through the ranks – and they've just had a week of which dreams are made.<\/p>\n

Evah McEwen, a classy 18-year-old back-rower who played for the NSW State of Origin under 19 women's team earlier in the season, made her NRLW debut for the club last weekend.<\/p>\n

\"NRLW<\/p>\n

Big brother Jermaine, 19, who also played for the Blues in the back row at under 19 level this season, just signed a three-year deal with the club that will see him move up to the NRL in the next couple of seasons.<\/p>\n

And a third sibling, Matty, played for NSW CHS this year. A 17-year-old hooker, he is in the Knights pathways system.<\/p>\n

Parents, Matt and Deb McEwen have lived and breathed footy all their lives and now get the joy of watching their three kids shine every weekend throughout the footy season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
