South Sydney Rabbitohs lock Cameron Murray has delivered a passionate endorsement of teammate Adam Reynolds amid the star halfback's stalled contract talks with the club<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Reynolds wants a new three-year deal but the club has only offered the 2014 premiership-winner a one-year contract extension<\/a>. The 30-year-old, whose current contract will expire at the end of this year, is due to resume discussions with the club in the coming days.<\/p>\n

Murray refused to weigh in to the business side of the contract war but said he would love the former State of Origin No.7 to sign a new long-term deal, praising Reynolds the person and footballer.<\/p>\n

"I can just comment on how much I love Adam Reynolds and how much I love playing alongside him and how much of a shame it'd be to see him leave," Murray said.<\/p>\n

"I'm not sure when or if a deal will be done but it'd be a tragedy if he left. I really want him to stay here.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

"He's the life of the club and he's been one of the leaders in our return to form since early in the 2010s. He's been instrumental to the success of the Bunnies over the last decade and he's still at the top of his game now. I don't think he's played better footy ever – maybe in the 2013, 2014 seasons, but over the last couple of years, especially under Wayne Bennett, I think he's played some of his best footy."<\/p>\n

Murray lauded the impact Reynolds had had as captain since taking the reins from Sam Burgess ahead of season 2020.<\/p>\n

"He's still got a lot to offer, he's a great leader for us, he's a great captain, he did great for us last year in the absence of Sam, Greg (Inglis) and (John) Sutton," Murray said.<\/p>\n

"He stepped up alongside Cookie (Damien Cook) and Cody (Walker). I think they've found a really good leadership dynamic there and they're training and playing really well. So we've got a great thing going here and it'd be a shame to see him leave."<\/p>\n

Nine NRL reporter Danny Weidler laughed, quipping: "You sure you're not his agent?"<\/p>\n

"Nah, I'm not," Murray chuckled.<\/p>\n

"Maybe I should be getting commission or something for blowing up his tyres.<\/p>\n

"But like I said, I can't speak better of Adam. I love him as a person and a footy player and I know every single Souths member and fan does too. So hopefully they can sort out a deal."<\/p>\n
