Carlton recruit Zac Williams may have to wait until Round Two to make his debut for the Blues after being hit with a one-match suspension by the match review officer.<\/p>\n

Just moments after St Kilda<\/a> and Carlton<\/a> took to the field for their pre-season hit-out last week, Williams hit young Saints midfielder Hunter Clark high just after the 21-year-old had kicked the ball down the field.<\/p>\n

The 26-year-old was today charged with engaging in rough conduct, with the MRO grading the incident as careless, medium impact and high contact.<\/p>\n

Williams has until 11am on Tuesday to respond to the charge.<\/p>\n

Melbourne champion Garry Lyon during Carlton's match labelled Williams' act as "dumb", while urging match review officer Michael Christian to make an early statement.<\/p>\n

"Conversations around concussion right now, that is the last thing you want to be doing now," Lyon told Fox Footy post-game.<\/p>\n

"If he got a week, that wouldn't worry me one bit \u2026 You leave the ground and make head-high contact, that's a dangerous act.<\/p>\n

"It's jumping off the ground and making contact to the head, so it probably warrants a week.<\/p>\n

"Take a hard stand, make a point early in the piece."<\/p>\n

Williams, who was lured away from the GWS Giants<\/a> on a deal understood to be worth more than $800,000 per season, finished last week's match with 17 disposals and two goals.<\/p>\n
