There's been a fresh twist in the cricket career of Will Pucovski<\/a> after denials he has been medically retired.<\/p>\n

\ufeff9News Melbourne's Tom Morris reported on Thursday night \ufeffthe decision was made several months ago, but will shortly be formalised contractually by Cricket Victoria.<\/p>\n

But on Friday, sources informed The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a> the promising batter has not retired and has no plans to in the immediate future.<\/p>\n

Rather, they say Pucovski has been ruled out of the upcoming Australian season, but still holds hope of returning next year\ufeff.<\/p>\n

Pucovski has a history of head knocks, and hadn't played since his most recent from a Riley Meredith bouncer in March<\/a>.<\/p>\n

He's also been open about his battle with his own mental health\ufeff, and even took an extended break from the game in 2022.<\/p>\n

Pucovski reportedly hasn't made an appearance at pre-season training with Victoria, instead travelling overseas.<\/p>\n

Touted as a future batting prodigy, Pucovski played just the one Test for Australia – \ufeffagainst India in 2021. He made 62 and 10.<\/p>\n

In his 36 first-class matches, Pucovski has scored 2350 runs at 45.19 with seven hundreds.<\/p>\n
