Jeremy Cameron<\/a> has enjoyed a strong outing in his first match for Geelong, kicking two goals in a tense encounter against Essendon.<\/p>\n

Cameron joined Gary Rohan<\/a> as Geelong's only two multiple goal-kickers, as Geelong took advantage of some inaccurate Essendon kicking to run out 12. 7. (79) to 9. 18. (72) winners at GMHBA Stadium.<\/p>\n

The star recruit finished with 15 disposals and took three marks up forward and said he was feeling good after fighting through some hamstring issues in the summer.<\/p>\n

"It's just good to get out there and have a hit-out. The body is feeling good and it's good to get the synergy going," he told Fox Footy after the win.<\/p>\n

It was an encouraging performance from a young Essendon side, with Zach Merrett<\/a> (37 disposals), Jordan Ridley (25), Darcy Parish (32) and new recruit Jye Caldwell (24) among the best.<\/p>\n

Despite the efforts of the young guns, it was veteran Cale Hooker who was the Bombers' biggest threat up forward, kicking four goals in a strong performance.<\/p>\n

However, Essendon was left to lament their poor kicking in front of goal, as they had 61 Inside 50s to Geelong's 46.<\/p>\n

NEW RECRUIT SHINES IN THUMPING HAWKS WIN<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former Collingwood winger Tom Phillips has enjoyed a day out in his Hawthorn debut, tallying 30 disposals in his first outing as a Hawk.<\/p>\n

Phillips also kicked a goal in his debut, as Hawthorn inflicted North Melbourne's second heavy defeat of the pre-season in a 17. 18. (120) to 12. 9. (81) win.<\/p>\n

Discarded as a part of Collingwood's fire-sale in last year's AFL Trade Period, Phillips' class was on show right from the outset as he was joined by Liam Shiels (33 disposals) and Harry Morrison (30 disposals) as the other prolific ball-winners.<\/p>\n

With the likes of Jack Gunston and Luke Breust missing, young forward Jacob Koschitzke starred, kicking six goals, while fellow youngster Tyler Brockman also impressed, finishing with three majors.<\/p>\n

Phillips' former Magpies teammate Jaidyn Stephenson was among the best for North Melbourne, finishing with 27 disposals as he played further up the ground.<\/p>\n

Kangaroos fans will also be encouraged by the form of Luke Davies-Uniacke, who finished with 21 disposals and a goal.<\/p>\n
