{"id":416491,"date":"2024-08-09T21:45:00","date_gmt":"2024-08-09T21:45:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=416491"},"modified":"2024-08-09T22:05:45","modified_gmt":"2024-08-09T22:05:45","slug":"atec-nfca-announce-spring-high-school-regional-coaching-staffs-of-the-year","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=416491","title":{"rendered":"ATEC\/NFCA announce Spring High School Regional Coaching Staffs of the Year"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"x_MsoNormal\">\u00a0LOUISVILLE, Ky. \u2013 Eight programs were honored by their peers as 2023-24 ATEC\/<a href=\"https:\/\/nfca.org\/\">NFCA<\/a> High School Spring Regional Coaching Staffs of the Year, the Association announced on Friday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Competing in the Spring of 2024, Delta High School (Alaska), Providence High School (Calif.), Antioch High School (Ill.), Calvary Baptist Academy (La.), Silverdale Baptist Academy (Tenn.), Austintown Fitch High School (Ohio), Mount Saint Dominic Academy (N.J.) and Mardela High School (Md.) represent the Regions III through X, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>These programs, along with Summer\/Fall recipients Washington High School (Mo.) (Region I) and Guthrie High School (Okla.) (Region II), are now eligible for the NFCA High School National Coaching Staff of the Year award, which will be announced on August 20, 2024.<\/p>\n<p>To be eligible, the program\u2019s head coach must be a member and nominated. Winners were voted by member head coaches in each of their respective regions.<\/p>\n<h2><u>Regional Winners<\/u><\/h2>\n<p><strong>Region III \u2013\u00a0Delta\u00a0High School\u00a0(Alaska)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Head Coach:<\/strong>\u00a0Richard Lester<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistant Coach:<\/strong>\u00a0Amanda Bunselmeier<\/p>\n<p>Posted a 30-6 record and reached the ASAA Division II state championship tournament \u2026 Went 3-2 at the state tournament \u2026 Ten players earned 4.0 GPA with five earning NFCA All-Region and two NFCA All-America honors.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Region IV \u2013\u00a0Providence High School (Calif.)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Head Coach:<\/strong>\u00a0Manuel Travieso<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistant Coach:<\/strong>\u00a0Patricia Workman<\/p>\n<p>Playing a tough schedule, Providence finished 23-4 overall and 12-0 in League and held the No. 1 spot in the CIF division 5 for several weeks \u2026 Coach Travieso and Workman showed exception dedication and commitment to their players and community, which including guiding six seniors to secure commitment to prestigious academic universities (non-DI) \u2026 Organized free camps and emphasized a commitment to community engagement.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Region V &#8211;<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Antioch High School (Ill.)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Head Coach:<\/strong>\u00a0Anthony Rocco<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistant Coaches:<\/strong>\u00a0Hilary O&#8217;Donnell, Alex Caccamo, Tammy Johnson, Makaila House<\/p>\n<p>Nabbed second consecutive coaching staff of the year accolade \u2026 Class 3A state runner-up for second straight season \u2026 Registered a 29-6 mark and posted 19- and 15-game winning streaks in 2023 \u2026 Ranked ninth for a few weeks in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usatodayhss.com\/2024\/final-2024-usa-today-sports-nfca-high-school-super-25-softball-rankings\"><em>USA TODAY Sports<\/em>\/NFCA High School Super 25<\/a> poll \u2026 Earned notable wins over St. Charles North, Mundelein, Lincoln-Way East, Hononegah, Warren, Sycamore, and Richmond Burton.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Region VI \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Calvary Baptist Academy (La.)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Head Coach:<\/strong>\u00a0Tiffany Wood<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistant Coaches:<\/strong>\u00a0Greg Frazier,\u00a0Harold Johnson,\u00a0Jessica Gann<\/p>\n<p>Won its fourth straight LHSAA Division III state crown \u2026 Registered a 35-2 record \u2026 Finished second in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usatodayhss.com\/2024\/final-2024-usa-today-sports-nfca-high-school-super-25-softball-rankings\"><em>USA TODAY Sports<\/em>\/NFCA High School Super 25<\/a> poll and 10<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0in the MaxPreps rankings to go along with a No. 1 state ranking.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Region VII \u2013 Silverdale Baptist Academy (Tenn.)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Head Coach:<\/strong>\u00a0Jake Freelend<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistant Coaches:<\/strong>\u00a0Tim Thompson, Sloan Mulligan<\/p>\n<p>Back-to-back TSSAA Division II Class A state champions \u2026 Posted a 50-3 overall record and finished 15<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0in final MaxPreps rankings and No. 1 overall in Tennessee \u2026 Outscored the opposition 25-3 in the state tournament and 70-5 during the entire postseason \u2026 Captured regional and district titles &#8230; Finished the season outscoring their opponents 396-42, launched 66 home runs and posted a 0.69 ERA.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Region VIII &#8211; Austintown Fitch High School\u00a0(Ohio)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p><strong>Head Coach:<\/strong>\u00a0Steven Ward<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistant Coaches:<\/strong>\u00a0Bob Jones, Becki Spalding, Nicole Fiddler, Jerry Bruff, Rich Raymer<\/p>\n<p>Captured second straight coaching staff of the year honor \u2026 Won second consecutive Division I state title despite replacing four starters and five seniors from the 2023 team \u2026 Posted a 23-1 record and is 45-1 the past two years \u2026 Ended the season ranked No. 1 in Ohio, No. 6 nationally in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/usatodayhss.com\/2024\/final-2024-usa-today-sports-nfca-high-school-super-25-softball-rankings\"><em>USA TODAY SPORTS<\/em>\/NFCA High School Super 25<\/a> poll and 14<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0nationally on MaxPreps &#8230;
