Greek tennis<\/a> star Stefanos Tsitsipas<\/a> has unleashed an extraordinary spray at his father and coach, Apostolos, after a shock loss in Montreal.<\/p>\n

The world No.11 \ufeffsuffered a surprise 6-4, 6-4 loss to Kei Nishikori in the second round of the ATP Montreal Masters in just 78 minutes.<\/p>\n

The senior Tsitsipas has developed a reputation on the tour for heavily badgering his son.<\/p>\n

"Masters 1000 matches are important, I need a coach who listens to me as a player," the 25-year-old said after the match.<\/p>\n

\"Stefanos<\/p>\n

"\ufeffMy father has not been very smart in handling some situations, in trying to read what is happening on the court.<\/p>\n

"It has been a poor performance from my father and it's not the first time. I'm disappointed with him."<\/p>\n

Tsitsipas and his father have clashed before, which led to a brief split. In late 2022, he brought Aussie Mark Philippoussis onto his team, but the relationship lasted barely six months before Apostolos returned the following May.<\/p>\n

"I really don't know right now if I'd consider any changes, but I'm really disappointed," Tsitsipas continued.<\/p>\n

\"Olympics<\/p>\n

"The most important thing for a player is to have direct and good feedback from a coach. The coach is not the one holding a racket. The player is the one trying to execute a game plan.<\/p>\n

"It's a collaborative work that you put in together. It has to be reciprocal in order for me to try to develop my tennis. It's something I don't want to get stuck at that."<\/p>\n

Tsitsipas has won only two titles in the past two seasons, and was knocked out of the Olympics singles tournament in the quarter finals by eventual champion Novak Djokovic.\ufeff<\/p>\n
