Cheers, roars, whistles, beating drums and national flags waving in the stands made for an incredible buzz.<\/p>\n<p>When the first finals session of the swimming program runs its course on Sunday\ufeff morning (AEST), the roof of the $596 million venue may blow off.<\/p>\n<p>Check out below how the rest of the heats played out.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Women&#x27;s 100m butterfly<\/strong>\ufeff<\/p>\n<p>Australia&#x27;s Emma McKeon and Alexandria Perkins both advanced to the semi-finals.<\/p>\n<p>McKeon, Australia&#x27;s most decorated Olympian, recorded the fifth-fastest time with a 56.79, while Perkins was eighth-fastest with a 57.46.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"51fa6e45-5325-40ce-bc6e-2ffc0f6dfabc\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/51fa6e45-5325-40ce-bc6e-2ffc0f6dfabc\" alt=\"Emma McKeon.\" data-width=\"1396\" data-height=\"785\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#x27;s 100m breaststroke<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australia&#x27;s Sam Williamson, the reigning world champion in the men&#x27;s 50m breaststroke, had a shocker in his 100m breaststroke heat, battling through the two-lap race in 1:00.50. He clocked the 24th-fastest time, meaning he was not quick enough to earn a spot in the semi-finals. His personal best is 58.80.<\/p>\n<p>But fellow Australian Joshua Yong progressed to the semi-finals by registering a 59.75, the 12th-fastest time of the heats.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Men&#x27;s 400m freestyle<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Australian pair Elijah Winnington and Sam Short booked their places in the final by posting the fourth-fastest and fifth-fastest times respectively.
