T\ufeffhe Sydney Swans<\/a> appear to have put last week's one-point loss to the Fremantle Dockers behind them \u2014 re-signing Logan McDonald on a new four-year deal.<\/p>\n

The star forward \ufeffhad the opportunity to ice Sydney's five-goal comeback and steal victory with a shot on goal with less than a minute left on the clock.<\/p>\n

However, after taking his 30 seconds to line up for goal, the 22-year-old completely missed the posts altogether<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\"Logan<\/p>\n

In recommitting to the Swans until at least the end of the 2028 season, McDonald shunned a return home to Western Australia following interest from the Dockers.<\/p>\n

The new deal will also take him through to free agency.<\/p>\n

"I'm absolutely rapt to stay here in the red and white, this place is like my second home. I've been here for four years now and stoked to be here for another four," McDonald said in a club statement.<\/p>\n

"My teammates are my best mates and the people I live with and see every day, they're my second family. The exciting position the list is in at the moment \u2014 I just want to compete win games \u2014 and hopefully win some premierships.<\/p>\n

"There's no substitute for happiness. I'm so happy here with the people around me at this footy club, and I don't think any amount of money could make me leave that so I'm so grateful for the opportunity to stay here."<\/p>\n

McDonald has become an important member of Sydney's talented young forward line alongside Joel Amartey and Hayden McLean.<\/p>\n

Swans footy boss Leon Cameron said the club was pleased to secure McDonald's signature.<\/p>\n

"Logan is an extremely popular member of the playing group, and we are pleased he's decided to stay with the Swans," he said.<\/p>\n

"We have to remember he's only 22-years-old and he has a lot of development to go, but we feel he has all the attributes to be one of the league's best key forwards.<\/p>\n

"As we plan for the future, we see Logan as an extremely important member of the group, and we're excited to see him hone his craft in the next few seasons."<\/p>\n

Since debuting for the Swans at the beginning of the 2021 season, \ufeffMcDonald has gone on to play 59 senior games and kick 78 goals, including 22 majors this season.<\/p>\n

Touted as a promising talent, McDonald was taken by Sydney with p\ufeffick No.4 in the 2020 draft.<\/p>\n

Sydney has now locked away the majority of its young playing list with McDonald joining the likes of James Rowbottom, Oliver Florent, Errol Gulden and Will Hayward to recommit this season despite offers from rival clubs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
