He just gets on and gets the job done really well,&quot; the former Ireland mentor said.<\/p>\n<p>Wright himself was stunned at the honour as he became the seventh Wallabies skipper in the last 12 months, on the back of a tumultuous Eddie Jones reign.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>NEW PODCAST! No.1 is this, No.2 is this. And so when No.6 came up I was really pleased to see my name there and I was a little bit shocked to be honest, to see the captain underneath it. I think the enormity of it hit me a bit afterwards. I won&#x27;t pretend to be the expert but she&#x27;s pretty good.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Asked by Horan what he&#x27;d like to do when he retires, Wright offered \ufeff&quot;maybe a little part time volunteer groundsman sort of thing.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>He&#x27;s got a bit more than that on his plate now as the Wallabies try to restore some credibility after last year&#x27;s Rugby World Cup humiliation that included a record 40-6 loss to Wales in Lyon.<\/p>\n<p><img data-id=\"91cebc32-cd66-4931-972e-5b06a15766f3\" src=\"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/07\/91cebc32-cd66-4931-972e-5b06a15766f3-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"Rob Valetini of Australia looks dejected at fulltime in Lyon.\" data-width=\"5099\" data-height=\"2868\" \/><\/p>\n<p>&quot;There&#x27;s no scars at all,&quot; Wright, who watched on from afar, claimed.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;The World Cup last year obviously didn&#x27;t go down the way we wanted it but boys didn&#x27;t shy away from that at all. Yeah, fashion&#x27;s never been my strongest suit but as you can see behind me, we&#x27;ve got MJ Bale, a great sponsor of ours and looking forward to looking good in one of those suits at some point.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Yeah, not my strong point, but I&#x27;ve got guys to lean on for that as well. We&#x27;ve had four trainings really. Some players just want to get on and get their own job done. And while Liam didn&#x27;t put himself forward, he&#x27;s accepted the challenge&#8230; we&#x27;re just at the moment trying to take it step by step. The first step was to get the selection right.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;And then to get someone within the selection who already had a leadership role and wasn&#x27;t going to feel uncomfortable or distracted by the role.
