World No.5 Daniil Medvedev<\/a> was left red-faced during his second round clash against Alexandre Muller at Wimbledon<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The Russian, known to blow a gasket on court over virtually anything, was gradually becoming frustrated in the first set against Frenchman Alexandre Muller\ufeff as the first frame was sent to a tiebreak.<\/p>\n

So when Muller was leading 5-3 in the final stages of the first set, Medvedev hit a shot long to make it 6-3 as the Russian stormed off the court, furious and mouthing off at his coaches before taking his seat.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"He's getting himself into a bit of a state here, he seems distracted," Mark Petchey said in commentary for Stan Sport.<\/p>\n

"He doesn't know the score, he thinks that's set," Todd Woodbridge added.<\/p>\n

"The brain is scrambled."\ufeff<\/p>\n

While seated he continued giving his box a gobful, seemingly telling them the set was over. But he quickly realised the tiebreak was still in play and sheepishly took his position on court.<\/p>\n

His coaches could not help but smile at their player's lapse in concentration, but their smiles swiftly turned south after Medvedev lost the following point to officially lose the first.<\/p>\n

\ufeffWhile not ideal, the gaffe didn't impact the result in the end as Medvedev fought back impressively to win the next three sets 7-6 (4), 6-4, 7-5 to advance into the third round of the tournament.<\/p>\n

"It was a great match to be honest," he said.<\/p>\n

"There were moments in the match when it was not as easy as the score would suggest.<\/p>\n

"So I'm really happy with my level. I still never lost on No.1 Court so hopefully I can play a lot more matches on this court.<\/p>\n

"I said last year before the semi-final that, unfortunately, I have to go to Centre Court and I actually lost.<\/p>\n

"This year I got lucky, I managed to practise on Centre before the tournament so maybe it can give me some edge for the future, but for the moment I want to play on Court No.1 and try to win."<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
