Sergio Garcia<\/a> has missed out on qualifying for the British Open<\/a> for the second-straight year, with only two LIV Golf<\/a> players making it through for the event.<\/p>\n

The 44-year-old Spanish star was among eight LIV Golf players who missed out.<\/p>\n

Garcia had rounds of 71-70 at West Lancashire and missed the four qualifying spots by two shots in a cruel blow.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was tough conditions and sometimes things don't always go your way,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI tried everything I could and that's all I can ask of myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

There was a moment of contention during Garcia's round however, which saw the veteran take aim at officials after they \ufeffhanded him a slow play warning.<\/p>\n

"It's very simple," Garcia said.<\/p>\n

"When you have 2,000 people following us with no ropes, nothing. The marshals were trying to do the best job they could do, but obviously we had to stop pretty much on every tee for two-to-three minutes to hit our tee shots.<\/p>\n

"People were walking in front of the tee and on the fairway. Unless we wanted to start hitting people we couldn't hit. I don't think they took that into account and that was unfortunate. It made us rush.<\/p>\n

"On a day like today when the conditions are so tricky and you might need a little of bit of extra time here and there it doesn't help out … because of that, I made a couple of bogeys that might cost me getting to Troon."<\/p>\n

Golf reporter Ben Parsons captured Garcia's frustrations in a social media post, where he revealed the frustrations mounted due to the crowd's involvement.<\/p>\n

Garcia finished with five bogeys as he failed to qualify for The Open, where the winner takes home about $4.5 million.<\/p>\n

Justin Rose went to great lengths to secure a spot at Royal Troon and it paid off on Wednesday (AEST) when he posted rounds of 66-68 to be land his spot.<\/p>\n

Rose has been exempt for the better part of two decades and most recently won the AT&T Pebble Beach a year ago, but this year has been a struggle for the 43-year-old Englishman, who dropped out of the top 50 in the world ranking.<\/p>\n

He figured his best option was 36 holes of qualifying in the U.K.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou kind of take it for granted,\u201d Rose said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs you get a little older, things get a little harder. It makes you appreciate how special The Open is.\u201d<\/p>\n
