Former Brumbies<\/a> head coach Dan McKellar looks set to lead the Waratahs<\/a> in Super Rugby Pacific<\/a> next year.<\/p>\n

McKellar, who split with Leicester Tigers in England's top Premiership Rugby competition last month, is reportedly set to sign a deal with NSW Rugby.<\/p>\n

The former Wallabies assistant coach hasn't put pen to paper yet, reports The Sydney Morning Herald<\/a>, but is poised to take the job.<\/p>\n

It comes just weeks after the sport's governing body fired Darren Coleman.<\/p>\n

The Waratahs were woeful this season, winning just two of their 14 matches to finish last on the ladder.<\/p>\n

The Herald reports an announcement is expected to be made in a matter of days, confirming McKellar's signing.<\/p>\n

Before McKellar split with Leicester Tigers, another former Wallabies assistant coach, Scott Wisemantel, was the top pick.<\/p>\n

McKellar's signing would be significant for the Waratahs. He led the Brumbies from 2018 to 2022 and during that time made them the leading Australian team in Super Rugby.<\/p>\n

The Brisbane-born coach was part of Dave Rennie's set-up as an assistant coach but was not part of the Eddie Jones regime that bombed out of the 2023 Rugby World Cup.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
