West Indies star Kieron Pollard has smashed Sri Lanka's Akila Dananjaya for six sixes in one over.<\/p>\n
Utterly bizarrely, it happened the over after the all-rounder had claimed a hat-trick in his first international match since 2019.<\/p>\n
Dananjaya dismissed Evin Lewis, Chris Gayle and Nicholas Pooran with consecutive balls in his second over, becoming only the 15th player (and fourth Sri Lankan) to take a T20 international hat-trick. Pollard politely took a single from his first ball after coming to the crease with Pooran's dismissal.<\/p>\n
Pollard, captaining his side, then belted Dananjaya for 36 runs in his third over. His final blow off the right-arm spinner was a perfectly timed clip over the mid-wicket fence, after which he took a bow.<\/p>\n
The Windies slugger joined Herschelle Gibbs and Yuvraj Singh as the only men to hit six sixes in one over in international cricket.<\/p>\n

"I felt I could hit six sixes after the third one," Pollard said, per Cricinfo.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n "I did it in the Super 50 as well. I just backed myself. Once I had five sixes, I knew I had the bowler on the back foot. He was going around the wicket and it was difficult for him. I just told myself, 'Go for it'.<\/p>\n He added, per AP: "I just had to come out and back myself. It was something the team needed. I didn't see the hat-trick, I only heard. But I still had to come out and do what the team required at that point in time."<\/p>\n Pollard first struck an enormous blow over mid-wicket; then straight and flat down the ground; then over long-off; then back over mid-wicket for the final three sixes.<\/p>\n "Six sixes for Kieron Pollard!" West Indies great Ian Bishop said in commentary.<\/p>\n "Herschelle Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, you have company!<\/p>\n "And a little bow to the waving gallery of his teammates for the West Indies captain."<\/p>\n Pollard was there for a good time not a long time. He was out for 38 off 11 balls shortly after, LBW to PWH de Silva. Dananjaya took 3-62 from four overs.<\/p>\n Sri Lanka made 9-131 in the first innings of the match at Coolidge Cricket Ground and West Indies won by four wickets with 41 balls remaining.
