{"id":407589,"date":"2024-06-29T15:33:48","date_gmt":"2024-06-29T15:33:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=407589"},"modified":"2024-06-29T16:04:32","modified_gmt":"2024-06-29T16:04:32","slug":"oregon-prep-football-coach-jamal-jones-resigns-after-camp-incident","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=407589","title":{"rendered":"Oregon prep football coach Jamal Jones resigns after camp incident"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The conclusion to a bizarre incident at an Oregon football camp came on Friday when Westview High School coach Jamal Jones resigned.<\/p>\n<p>Jones allegedly woke up players in the early morning hours of the multi-day football camp on Linfield University (McMinnville) campus by slapping and shaking them.<\/p>\n<p>Jones&#8217; decision was revealed in an email sent to parents, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregonlive.com\/highschoolsports\/2024\/06\/westview-high-school-football-coach-resigns-after-allegedly-slapping-shaking-students.html?outputType=amp\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reported Oregonlive.com:<\/a><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cWe are prepared to move forward as Jamal Jones has resigned from our head coaching position, effective immediately,\u201d the email from WHS principal Matt Pedersen reads. \u201cThere is a meeting with our assistant coaching staff later this morning and more information around team gatherings, football workouts and practices will be coming out soon. Our goal is to work to ensure our players and their families feel safe returning to the Westview football program and for our student-athletes to be able to look forward to a successful season.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">As<a href=\"https:\/\/usatodayhss.com\/2024\/football-coach-slaps-players-camp-westview-jamal-jones-hillsboro-police\"> reported last week<\/a>, this was Jones&#8217; first year as the Wildcats&#8217; head coach.
