Four-star offensive lineman Carde Smith has de-committed from Auburn<\/a>. It is a blow for the SEC program as they lost an in-state recruit but it perhaps isn’t surprising.<\/p>\n

Over the weekend, Smith took an official visit<\/a> to USC<\/a>. The freshly minted Big Ten program now appears to be in the driver’s seat in Smith’s recruitment.<\/p>\n

He had taken an official visit to Auburn the weekend of June 14.<\/p>\n

Smith is a consensus four-star recruit. In the On3 Industry Rankings<\/a>, Smith is the No. 231 overall recruit in the nation as well as the No. 21 offensive tackle.<\/p>\n

In addition to Auburn and USC, Smith holds offers from Florida<\/a>, Florida State<\/a>, Georgia Tech, Miami, Missouri, Ole Miss and South Carolina among others.<\/p>\n

News of Smith’s de-commitment was broken by Hayes Fawcett of On3.<\/p>\n

The On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine<\/a> has USC at 59.4 percent to land Smith.<\/p>\n

A 6-foot-5, 295-pound offensive tackle at Williamson (Mobile, Alabama), Smith has a good frame to pack on size and strength for the Power Five level. He also has good arm length and vertical movement.<\/p>\n
