Australia's hopes of winning a second Olympic gold medal in sevens<\/a> have taken a hit after Alysia Lefau-Fakaosilea became the fourth women's star to be ruled out of Paris 2024<\/a> with a serious knee injury.<\/p>\n

Lefau-Fakaosilea, a highly talented 23-year-old from Queensland, suffered her injury in training and joins Demi Hayes, Madison Ashby and Lily Dick on the sidelines.<\/p>\n

Australia was on a high after winning \ufeffthe world series ending Madrid tournament this month<\/a> but this setback will further test the depth of Tim Walsh's squad.<\/p>\n

Australia are set to name their Olympic sevens squads on July 3.<\/p>\n

\ufeffBoth teams also learnt their Paris pool opponents overnight.<\/p>\n

The Aussie women will \ufefftake on Ireland, Great Britain and South Africa in Pool B while the men have been drawn against Argentina, Samoa, and Kenya.<\/p>\n

"There's no easy games," men's coach John Manenti told rugby.com.au.<\/p>\n

"Samoa have had a tough season but can still beat anyone on their day and will have players coming in from around the world.<\/p>\n

"Kenya is Kenya and have 12 blokes that are six foot five and built like outhouses, play good footy and had a good weekend on the recent tour.
