Brandon Smith<\/a> delivered a remarkable performance for the Roosters<\/a> in an effort to silence critics as \ufeffthe fallout from his breach notice continues.<\/p>\n

The 28-year-old was recalled into the starting line to replace Connor Watson, who is one of four Roosters ruled out due to Origin duties. \ufeff<\/p>\n

In his first game back since \ufeffbeing axed in round 15<\/a>, Smith recorded 76 run metres and three tackle breaks. He also perfectly pinpointed a 40\/20 which led to a Nat Butcher try.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, rumours spiralled that the No.9 was headed to South Sydney alongside star coach Wayne Bennett, however, Smith was quick to quash those reports<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Smith's first half performance was commended by coach Trent Robinson, who recognised the challenges of balancing off-field dramas with on-field performances.<\/p>\n

"Outstanding, I felt like Sandon (Smith) was ready to go but Brandon was ready to keep going, even in that second half there," Robinson said.<\/p>\n

"Outstanding defensive pressures and performance there and really good rolling of the ruck. I feel like we opened up their ruck there the longer that first half went and he was really strong on his carries and obviously a really important kick that he can do so great game.<\/p>\n

"You always expect your players to play well, that's \ufeffseparate to the field performance.<\/p>\n

"You want him to play his best footy, I just wanted him to get back out there and get into it."<\/p>\n

Skipper James Tedesco, who was snubbed from the Blues team for game two, \ufeffsaid he was glad to see his teammate back in action.<\/p>\n

"He was awesome, Cheese\ufeff just wants to play footy," he said.<\/p>\n

"I know it was hard for him to miss out but he didn't kick stones, he worked hard at training, he wasn't playing and got ready for this week as best as he could.<\/p>\n
