{"id":405253,"date":"2024-06-22T18:20:59","date_gmt":"2024-06-22T18:20:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=405253"},"modified":"2024-06-22T19:04:39","modified_gmt":"2024-06-22T19:04:39","slug":"im-running-with-the-big-dogs-16-year-old-quincy-wilson-sets-record-at-olympic-trials","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sportinfo.pro\/?p=405253","title":{"rendered":"&#039;I&#039;m running with the big dogs:&#039; 16-year-old Quincy Wilson sets record at Olympic Trials"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">After putting the high school track and field scene on notice as a <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">freshman and sophomore<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> as he thundered to first-place finishes in dozens of events, Quincy Wilson set his sights on the Olympics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">The 16-year-old <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">has a legitimate chance to<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> reach Paris after his 400-meter dash at the Olympic Trials on Friday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Wilson, entering his junior year at Bullis High School (Potomac, Md.), set world U18 and American high school records in the trials in Eugene, Oregon, running his 400-meter heat in 44.66 seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">He broke the world record of 44.84 seconds that <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">had been set<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> five years ago and a <\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">U.S.<\/span><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\"> high school record that had stood for 42 years by 0.03 seconds, according to the <\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/sports\/olympics\/2024\/06\/21\/olympic-track-field-trials-results-2024-quincy-wilson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Washington Post<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">. In clearing the 45-second mark, he set a new standard for himself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u201cIt\u2019s a different game,\u201d Wilson said to reporters. \u201cI\u2019m not running high school anymore. To me, everybody puts their spikes on the same way I do.
