G\ufeffeelong<\/a> triple premiership forward Tom Hawkins<\/a>' career could be in serious jeopardy, after he suffered an innocuous ankle injury on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The Cats went down to the Blues by 63 points at the MCG, with the loss their sixth in seven weeks.<\/p>\n

Now, there are serious concerns for their veteran forward, who went down and was sidelined in the third term.<\/p>\n

Hawkins was leading for a ball and just went down with an ankle injury, which looked to have possibly caught the turf or rolled underneath him.<\/p>\n

He immediately limped to the bench and took no further part in the loss.<\/p>\n

Geelong coach Chris Scott confirmed that the 35-year-old had been dealing with a toe injury, but his ankle issue was unrelated.<\/p>\n

The coach also remained coy about Hawkins' condition when quizzed on Friday night.<\/p>\n

"He had to come off with a foot issue. It's mid-foot," Scott said.<\/p>\n

"He has had an issue with his toe but it is a fair way away from that."<\/p>\n

Scott admitted \ufeffthat the medical team didn't yet have an official diagnosis.<\/p>\n

"The experts we have don't know, so I certainly don't have anything more to add," he said.<\/p>\n

But the two-time premiership coach was quick to shut down suggestions that could have been his final game in the blue and white hoops.\ufeff<\/p>\n

"They are not saying (he's done for the year) and I certainly don't want to say anything that alleviates the concern because we are concerned, but I don't want to jump to conclusions either," Scott said.<\/p>\n
