The West Indies<\/a> punished Afghanistan<\/a> in a record-breaking power play at the ICC Men's T20 Cricket World Cup<\/a> that included a 36-run over.<\/p>\n

The co-hosts racked up 92 runs inside six overs, the most runs in a power play in the tournament's history.<\/p>\n

The fourth over was the most expensive of all with Azmatullah Omarzai conceding 36 runs in eight balls.<\/p>\n

The over began with batter Nicholas Pooran swinging wildly a six before Amatullah was pinged for a front-foot no-ball which was pulled for four.<\/p>\n

Omarzai's day went from bad to worse when an attempted bouncer went over the head of Pooran and the wicketkeeper.<\/p>\n

His fourth ball of the over couldn't have been better, bowling a yorker that castled Pooran \u2013 albeit on a free hit.<\/p>\n

What followed was more carnage. The fifth ball clipped Pooran's legs and ran away to fine leg for four runs.<\/p>\n

Pooran swung wildly at the next ball, which went out to the vacant deep backward point before trickling away to the boundary.<\/p>\n

The over ended with back-to-back sixes. Omarzai cleared his front leg and launched the second-to-last ball to deep midwicket before sending the final ball back over the bowler's head to long off.\u00a0<\/p>\n

"Magnificent over from the West Indies, magnificent from Pooran," said Ian Bishop on commentary.<\/p>\n

"Who bowls the next one, Rashid?"<\/p>\n

Indeed, it was Rashid who took the reins after the brutal over. He fared only slightly better, conceding 45 runs from his four overs.<\/p>\n

"They would not have wanted this, Afghanistan," said Ricky Ponting.<\/p>\n

"\ufeffRashid Khan bowling inside the power play. Something he's not done a lot of right through his career.<\/p>\n

"It's only ever like a chaos moment in a game where he'll go to himself to get that breakthrough."<\/p>\n

That took the score to 1-73 after four overs, which blew out to 5-218 at the end of 20 overs \u2013 the highest score for the West Indies at a T20 World Cup.<\/p>\n
